My son Daniel is 19months old. He has a right-sided radial club hand with 2 missing fingers.
When I was around 17 weeks pregnant I was given a flu shot, 24hours later i had an episode of vaginal bleeding which I think was related to the flu shot and this event may have led to the development of the radial club hand.
On my next pregnancy scan, 4 weeks later, I remember this day like yesterday, it was exactly on 14th February 2017 the doctor told me it going to be a boy! Then the next news came crashing down on me... I remember the doctor telling me that he can't see all the right hands fingers, there is only 3 fingers and the arm is shorter than the other one.. i cried, my first baby I didn't want to believe it. Later I had DNA tests which luckily came back all normal.
I was told, given the circumstances to think if i want to terminate the pregnancy but for me this wasn't an option and I decided to continue and give birth to my precious baby boy.

Daniel was born with a radial club hand missing a thumb and an additional finger.
The only hope to improve the appearance and function of his right arm is an operation in the Orthopedic & Spine Institue at St. Mary's Medical Centre in Florida.
The plan requires 3 operations to treat the deformity of my son's hand. These operations will result in a completely mobile wrist joint and fingers. They will improve the general appearance and function of Daniel's right hand.
