The founder, Kim Evans MSc, knows first hand, the frustration and struggle that clients of colour and black students studying to be a therapist, may experience, due to the lack of understanding related to racial diversity & culture. This led her to speak at the BACP research conference presenting her research 'Black Minds Matter' and creating her training and consultancy company KaeMoTherapy.

At KaeMoTherapy we fill the gaps found in the curriculum for therapists around race as this impacts the quality of support Black and Asian clients receive when they enter mental health services. Many of whom have much lower positive outcomes or do not engage until their issues are very severe.

We want to be a company that’s here consistently for staff and students who feel unheard or confused about how to speak out about issues around racial injustice in therapy. We are unique in focusing our supporting on therapists from different backgrounds to help them achieve an anti-racist practice. Therefore, as pioneers in our field we want to be visible so that we can support as many people as we can.

The money will help us to invest in quality content development, marketing tools and admin fees so we can grow and become a sustainable company.

Getting loans is difficult and risky at this stage in business as we are a young company and we’re not a charity or CIC; so we don't have the best access to grants.
