Story
I am delighted to be running for Maggie’s Charity in the London Marathon on April 27th.
When we found out in August that our son, Lewis, was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukaemia (a rare form of blood cancer), we were devastated. Lewis’ girlfriend, family and friends have been amazing through such an overwhelming time, however we wouldn’t have managed without the support from Maggie’s. This centre is a place that provides everything to support the impact that cancer can have on all aspects of life. The staff there are incredible and they aren’t just there for the beginning stages of a diagnosis, they are there to support every step. We have been very lucky that an old friend volunteers at the Nottingham centre, which has made Lewis’ journey to his bone marrow transplant in March much more manageable. It is now time to show appreciation for their support.
Why Maggie's?
Maggies is a fantastic charity close to our hearts, set up to support people and families suffering with the effects of cancer. Maggies’ Centres offer practical and emotional support to people with any type of cancer, at any stage, for free. They receive no government funds and rely on the generosity of their supporters. They focus on the things that really make a difference, such as housing, help with managing stress and anxiety, as well as side efforts of treatment, financial advice and they offer family support. They offer this through 1-1 support or group sessions. There are 24 centres in the UK and 4 in London, welcoming 100+ visitors into each centre every day.
