Story
The Kaiaf health centre serves some 15,000 people in rural Africa. We first visited it when delivering mosquito nets. On seeing the appalling conditions in which, for example, some 240 babies were delivered in 2014, we volunteered our services to reinstate the centre.
During the rainy season water poured through the roof and ceiling below into the wards and treatment rooms. Sanitary conditions are dire. There is no running water or electricity other than a solar panel to keep the vaccine fridge running.
With help from individuals and other sponsors and small fund raising events we have as at November 2016 raised some £7,248 and spent some £4,491 on a new roof and ceiling for the main wing, internal and external doors and windows, etc.
All money donating goes straight to the building project except only bank and exchange charges. We have good and trusted local team in place to help run the project.
