Story

Hi friends! Thank you for taking the time to visit this page and find out more about the cause that I’ll be fundraising for alongside my dear friends, Amanda and Mariana. We are three kids who are incredibly privileged and grateful for the opportunity to study and live in London, but living in London also means we have walked past the homeless so many times that we’ve pretty much lost count.

It’s difficult to help when you don’t know where to start. Giving money directly to the homeless isn’t the best idea, and neither is buying them a hot drink or some food given that it only provides them with a temporary solution to a long-term problem. The three of us wanted to raise money for a charity that helped to bridge the gap between the homeless and other members of society, as well as simultaneously provide the homeless with employment training. Homelessness is a serious issue that transcends borders, and we hope that this fundraiser helps to eliminate the increasing disconnect.

According to the data, the number of people sleeping rough exceeds 4,700 - and that number continues to rise every year.

What if it was you?

“Beam crowdfunds employment training for homeless people, helping them to progress towards stable, paid work.” They are supported by the Mayor of London and have been featured in numerous articles. We've compiled more information about Beam into a google doc for you, so please do check it out here.

Feel free to drop us a message if you have any questions about the cause or initiative and thank you very much in advance for your generosity! :)
