    Story

'In 2016, I took part in a volunteer program in the village of Mlanga. It was during this project that I discovered a passion for not only education but making a difference in the community, in my country, and by extension, the world at large. After the project was completed, I decided I needed to take action once more. I wanted to improve the lives of the children of Tanzania, alongside the community - as I did once before. It was during early 2017 that I had some preliminary discussions with my good friend Abel Kamuli, a long-time friend and trusted educator like myself. Together, we decided to meet the challenge and develop the KAJO EDUCATION CENTRE. '

The KAJO EDUCATION CENTRE was officially established on 05/06/2017 in Kinyerezi, Dar Es Salaam with the aim of providing educational services to children who have no access to quality education. . .

    MAIN OBJECTIVE

To create an outstanding provision of the most reliable and quality childcare and educational programs with utmost equity whilst simultaneously providing a home-like environment (including nutrition) whereby we complement families in their efforts to build each of their children’s social, emotional, physical and cognitive development.

    SPECIFIC OBJECTIVES

To promote positive and long-lasting impacts to children especially during their early care.

To provide ideal nutrition since we understand that every child’s early years are absolutely crucial to their future prospects.

To create attractive environment for learning that will open the door for future investment.

To utilize the available resources to the maximum to explore potentialities among the children.

To increase enrolment of children in order to expand interaction with community around the centre.

    CHALLENGES

''A challenge needs to be challenging''

    - Our first challenge is for KAJO to be registered as a day care centre, and in time, a full-time school.

    - Second, we would like to expand the size of the school to accommodate a larger number of students.

    - Thirdly, we would hope to build and renovate a larger school – or renovate an existing one – to meet the needs of our students. We have ambitions to have a photocopy machine, irremovable materials (climbing/sports equipment) that children can enjoy, and a ‘Chill-Out-Room’ where children can escape to or rest after class.

    - Finally, we would strive for an infant facility with dedicated resources for younger children.

With hard work and strong enthusiasm, we at KAJO hope to help many children. Regardless of the reasons why, we want to help children that are lacking educational opportunities. We hope that we at KAJO, and the children of KAJO, can help contribute to fight against poverty, ignorance, unemployment, and create a better future.

The KAJO EDUCATION CENTRE has been founded on 'Together'. This challenge is not something we can achieve solo, we must come together. Working together makes us stronger, and working together is something we teach the children of KAJO. This is something we both practice and teach. It is our hope, and the hope of the children at KAJO EDUCATION CENTRE, that we can build a better future for everyone, together.
