My story:

My name is Kalsoom Ahmed, I am a wife and a mother. I work full time in a school kitchen for secondary school and sixth form students too!

As a mother and a wife, I have always prioritised my family, ensuring my children feel safe and loved to the best of my ability.

Back in October, I visited Pakistan to see my family. During my time there, one of the family members I visited was my cousin - during this visit I was invited by a family who lived a few doors down from my cousin for a cup of tea and to get to know them. They are a lovely family with a small 3 year old child.

I was taken aback by their hospitality despite their living situation being less than ideal. I have attached pictures and videos to illustrate this but their one room house is made up of mud and stones, and I actually saw it crumbling as a result during my brief visit there. I can’t imagine it can continue in that state for much longer and I dread to think what could happen if it ever caves in entirely.

It broke my heart and amazed me at how kind and hospitable they were despite this, and I felt compelled to try to do something about their situation. They deserve to live in a proper house with a good foundation so that their family can continue to safely grow, especially that little 3 year old child.

Upon returning to the UK, I decided I want to help this family but I can’t do it by myself. The man of the house works at a paint shop, and his wages won’t even come close to being able to fund a repair of the property, they are just about making ends meet on basic necessities like food and water. I hope with your generosity to raise £8,000 in order to help fund this family’s house renovation.

Every contribution, no matter how small, can make a significant difference in this family’s life, who are facing challenges that many of us cannot even imagine. Your support will inevitably change this family’s life for the better.
