Story
It breaks my heart seeing people in need and I try do something to help whenever I can. Through my work within mental health, travelling to Sri Lanka, meeting refugees and studying psychology, l learned what war and displacement does to people. The horror of the bombing and fleeing your home, the often poor conditions refugees live in, separation from family, loss, the uncertainty of the future... I often feel helpless about what to do and also think we can do more to help those less fortunate than us. It is so heart-warming to see there are so many kind & caring people out there - donating clothes, sleeping bags and toys for children; sorting the donations and volunteering on the ground - in Calais or Greece. I met some of them when I recently joined Pobl i Bobl's sorting sessions.
Founded as a response to the refugee crisis of 2015, Pobl i Bobl (Welsh for People to People) aims to help people in crisis by providing physical aid and personal support, regardless of race, religion and location. Wherever people in need may be, Pobl i Bobl extends the hand of friendship and solidarity; Pobl i Bobl, Wales to the World.
Pobl i Bobl fund raises for three main reasons:
1) To help pay for aid to be sent out to Syria, Greece, France
2) To send money to projects on the ground (eg Hope Cafe in Athens, Dirty Girls of Lesvos washing service, those helping the homeless in Dunkirk and Calais, community centres and food kitchens in Greek refugee camps etc)
3) To help the resettlement project in North Wales.
I've decided to run the Conwy 10k race on the 7th of July and I'd like to help Pobl i Bobl raise a little money, so that the amazing work can continue. I would be grateful if you could contribute, whatever small amount you are able to, even if it's £5 (it will go a long way!).
If you would like more information or have an interest in a specific area of refugee support, then feel free to message the Facebook page (link below) and we will try to steer you in the right direction:

Thank you.
