Story
The Great Barrier Reef is "almost dead". But is it? It's not too late for conservation, one step at a time. Sustainable management of marine ecosystems and forest life is the goal of my trip. I will be joining a team of other undergraduates as well as a team of experts to go about with the research programme.
The cost is high and I will need to raise as much money as I can to fund for my trip. The expedition is completely voluntary and non-profit, I'm doing this to gain field experience as well as help out different communities who need a lot of manpower in their work towards conservation. The money raised will go to a part of the cost needed for the trip, the rest will come from my savings.
The objective is to monitor how forest structure and biodiversity changes over time, document the performance of a community managed area in terms of biodiversity conservation as well as identify where forest replanting is needed to extend forest coverage.
In addition, I will be assisting in collecting data on the reef fish community composition and biomass, how much coral cover is available and the levels of bleaching and disease on the reefs.
Thank you so much for the support.
