I'm raising £1000 to protect India’s fragile islands

Story

Climate change impacts are increasingly visible across India's mainland and islands, affecting both ecosystems and the communities that depend on them. Coastal and island communities are at the frontlines dealing with the impacts - from increasing coral bleaching events affecting marine life in the Andamans and Nicobar Islands and the Lakshadweep Islands to the increased frequency of cyclones, heat waves as well as unseasonal rainfall affecting biodiversity and people alike.

I’m running the London Marathon to raise awareness, donations (£750 target) and support the work of the Dakshin Foundation, an India-based non-profit working with coastal communities to secure the health of the country’s sensitive coastal and island ecosystems.

I'm running 42.2 kilometres to bring systems change through SeaChange.

The Dakshin Foundation understands that climate change, environmental degradation, economic inclusion and equity are deeply interconnected, which is why its SeaChange programme combines marine conservation with sustainable livelihood support for the communities who depend on these important ecosystems.
