On Wednesday morning 10 caravans belonging to members of the travelling community all the way from Galway entered the cricket club grounds by breaking the lock on the gate and set up residence on the pitch and square. They were helping themselves to the water which is meant for the cricket square and paid for by the cricket club on a water meter and they have caused damage to the pitch.

My dad is the Chairman of Havering-atte-Bower Cricket Club and he has spent numerous hours with the Police in the last few days who couldn't remove the travellers because the cricket club is private property!

Therefore they have been forced to instruct bailiffs to remove the travellers this morning at a cost of £3,000. The cricket club cannot afford that kind of money to remove trespassers that shouldn't be there in the first place!

We have a fun day planned for Sunday 2nd July at the cricket club to raise much needed funds to keep the cricket club running. Everyone has worked so hard to bring it all together and so it was necessary to instruct the bailiffs so this can go ahead.

So I’m asking for your help to donate a little bit of spare cash to this lovely little cricket club that work so hard to raise funds by holding fundraisers and private functions to keep it running.
