Story

I am hoping to raise at least £500 that I can share between two local charities that hold a special place in my heart, People and Gardens C.I.C and Little Harbour - CHSW . Please take the time to read about these two well deserving causes below.

People and Gardens.

A few years ago I was lucky enough to be introduced to People and Gardens C.I.C in St Austell. At the time I was overwhelmed by the atmosphere at the nursery, everyone had a smile on their face and was happy. It is still the same today, whenever I go there I am hit with a sense of happiness and peace and it is as if my worries are just washed away. The work that Ken and Lorraine Radford's team do with young adults with learning disabilities and mental health issues is just amazing. They support those that attend to develop as individuals to be able to take control over their own lives and to have equality of choice and opportunity in the workplace. I wish I had the spare time to do some voluntary work there but I don't so my way of helping is to try and raise some much needed funds for them to be able to carry on the amazing work they do.

Little Harbour

Several years back I also had the honour of having a tour around the then newly built children's hospice - Little Harbour. Being a mother myself I found the whole experience incredibly emotional and selfishly grateful that I have not had the need of their support, as I cannot imagine the heartache that those families who do require the support of the staff at Little Harbour must go through. I am full of admiration for those that work there as I know I would be useless in their role. Little Harbour was a favourite charity of my late husband who also had an enormous amount of admiration for the work and support provided by the staff to those who need it.

I shall be completing a 3.8km pool swim on the 8th Sept. I am not the strongest of swimmers and my ultimate goal is to build myself up enough to be able to complete the Castle to Castle swim at some point - maybe next year!!!
