I have taken in one of my son's friends. His dad was his sole family and carer apart from his dad's brother who is unable to care for him. His dad sadly passed away on Christmas Day. Social Services have said as he was 16 on 12th January he could go and live in a hostel. As a loving and caring parent I couldn't let this happen, he doesn't deserve it, he is a lovely child and has had more upset in his little life that anyone could imagine.

Social Services have said that they cannot provide any funding for him as this is a private arrangement, this isn't the case. I don't want funding for me, for food or any money towards bills, I just want him to have a better life and be able to go to college and to be able to go on his first holiday abroad. I want him to be part of my family and will do whatever it takes to do this.

His dad had a little money in his bank account that he could have had for himself but ne said this would pay for the basic funeral so that he could attend.
