Story

Built in 1699 the building is believed to be the only remaining example of a purpose built timber framed Dissenting Meeting House of its period. It has changed very little since it was built but it is now in need of major exterior restoration to the walls and roof, and in 2018 was placed on the Historic Buildings at Risk Register.

We are hoping to get 80% of the estimated £500,000 restoration cost as a grant from Historic England. As custodians of the building for current and future congregations and for the local community, members and friends of the Meeting House are currently actively fundraising the remaining funds. I’m contributing by running the Ipswich Twilight 10k on Friday 26th July and raising sponsorship.
