Story
I am a young lady (ha, ha, so I like to think!) in my 70s with arthritis in my lower spine. When Covid-19 and lockdown hit the UK I followed the recommendation from the government to go for a daily walk. I started with a short walk and slowly built this up to 6 miles. My challenge now is to do a much longer walk. Living in Harray I plan to start on the Lyde Road, climb up over the top and down towards Norseman village, taking the Redland Road to Finstown, through Binscarth Woods to Refuge Corner and back to the Lyde Road via the Howe Road (approximately 15 miles).
I wish to raise money for a very necessary and important local charity, Vital Talk Orkney Counselling Service. The pandemic has affected people in numerous different ways and Vital Talk Orkney offers you via Zoom (or similar) the opportunity to talk to a skilled counsellor and receive help to work through your personal difficulties such as stress, anger, anxiety, depression or other life crises such as trauma. Their counsellors are fully qualified professional people who offer their services for free so that people can access the service for free.Vital Talk Orkney
