Story
I am in the process of setting up a charity in memory of my beloved son Rupert. The charity is to be called: Rupert’s Charity for Helping Young Minds. The picture above is a piece of my son’s artwork and will be the logo of the charity.
Aims of the charity:
To provide funding for the relevant therapies for young people up to and including the age of 25 who are experiencing mental health difficulties. These therapies will include psychiatry, clinical psychology, art and horse therapy, with the hope they can form part of the journey in helping them on their path back to health and wellbeing.
The charity will pay entirely for each individual‘s treatment.
Unfortunately, for many reasons, there has been an enormous rise in young people suffering with mental health issues over the last ten or so years. Sadly, the problem is likely to worsen.
The NHS frequently do not provide the appropriate treatment, particularly for the often ‘very vulnerable, artistic type’ who find themselves suddenly in the midst of a mental health crisis. Long waiting times for appointments and group therapy are simply not an option for the young who are in crisis. Rupert’s charity will provide the opportunity for young people struggling with mental health issues to have one to one therapy. Critically, when it is needed.
Obviously providing this level of care is expensive. Two lovely people whom I know have kindly offered to be trustees of the charity. There is still much work to be done and ongoing fundraising will be constant. Therefore I am asking for donations through this justgiving page so we can at least begin to start helping the many people who are so very clearly in need.
