Karen's Story

Karen was diagnosed lung cancer at the end of 2014 after the discovery of a 10cm tumour in her right lung.

After undergoing a course of chemotherapy, followed by 44 sessions of radiotherapy as part of a trial, Karen was advised things were going well and the tumour was shrinking.
​
But after suffering pain in her right shoulder,
X-rays revealed the cancer had spread.
​
The 46-year-old from Coalisland, had her
worst fears confirmed at the end of last year,
the cancer had spread further, to her other
lung, liver, bones and lymph nodes,
her prognosis was now terminal.

Karen launched a fundraising drive to pay for pioneering cancer treatment she hoped would save her life has lost her fight with the disease.

Unfortunately Karen was too unwell to travel to receive the treatment
She passed away at hospital on July 3rd 2016

We have set this page up with the goal of creating a charity in Karen's name to provide help and support to people suffering from this terrible disease and assist them and there families during this time

Initially we plan to raise £50,000 to help the nurses and staff at the Macmillan unit in craigavon to continue the wonderful work they are doing and to say thanks for the help they provided us throughout Karen's treatment .
