Story
My 4 year old son was born with a rare chromosome deletion which has left him very poorly he has had so nany operations a life saving open heart surgeory he has just had another life saving operation on his spine c1 fixation which has left him with rods in his neck and plus many more Other operations. Our son has optic nerve hypoasia servere vision impairtment this is the reason we need his specialist bed becausein his current bed when his lying in it all he can see is the celling and he doesnt feel safe it has hard sides and now he is starting to sit up if he was to fall back on the hard sides of his current bed he is putting his spine at risk ie the rods breaking because of the hard impact he has weak mucsle so he wouldnt put his arms out to try and stop himself our local authority wont fund a new bed they say they have no funding avaliable. The bed we are trying to get funding for has hi-lo function on it a opening for his celling hoist and most importantly soft mesh sides so he would be able to see out and safe for him to try and sit unaided safelt without causing risk to his spine. if fell back.
