Story
A few weeks ago my dad was taken into Southampton General hospital. He had suffered a VT, which is when your heart beats to quickly, my dads averages heart rate per minute was 60, it was going at 320. My dad was lucky enough to have had a defibulater pit in his heart after 3 heart attacks.
The day my dad suffered from a VT, the defibulater shocked him 15 times, knocking him to the floor with each one, with this he still amanged to walk up the steps in the garden back into the house, call the ambulance and open the front door, all while being thrown about. The ambulance arrived and took him to Southampton General hospital, where the doctors worked hard to put his heart back into normal rythm. At this time we were told his sutuation was life threatening.
Luckily for us, the doxtors manages to get his heart rate back. However two days later, whilst he was on a high dependancy ward, it happened again. The doctors struggled to decrease his heart rate and was put into a medically induced Coma. He ended up in cardiac intensive care on a ventilator. He had a 1-2-1 nurse with him all day and night, constantly monitoring him, and making life saving decisions.
After speaking to my dads nurse one night, i found out that intensive carr and high dependancy rely heavily on donations, which made me said to think people have to go through something horrific to actually appreciate what they do. Those departments saved my dads life and for that i will be forever grateful.
Please give whatever you can, to support and help these departments.
