    Story

Dionne & I will be holding our annual fund raiser on the 4th of December at St Anselms. This year we are doing it for 3 year old Jake who lives in Welling.

We are raising funds to contribute towards Jake's family transforming the play room on the children's cancer ward at QE Woolwich into a more inviting space with soft play.

Last year you all showed great support and we're hoping to do the same or better this year!

Jake has been through an incredibly tough time these past few months. He was diagnosed with ALL (Acute Lymphoblastic Leukaemia) at the end of April and we were told that his treatment will take 3years 3months. We will never forget that devastating moment of being told that our son has cancer.

He started his treatment and was responding well, but with no immune system he developed a nasty fungal infection which had spread over his chest, liver, spleen and brain so he ended up back in intensive care.

Jake has been through so much, being on regular daily antibiotics, oral medicines, having bloods taken, mri scans, ct scans, chest X Ray's, ultra sounds, blood and platelet transfusions.

Jake has been through so much these last few months but is proving what a strong and brave little boy he is. He has amazed doctors with his progress and despite complications during his initial treatment he is now in remission and is on the low level regime.

Jake still has a long way to go over the next 3 years, but due to all the amazing doctors and nurses he is getting stronger each day.

The Royal Marsden and St. George's hospital have been absolutely amazing and have provided our son with the best care we could have asked for. They are constantly examining his case and making sure that Jake is getting the best treatment possible.

Jake is now being treated at the QE and we would love to raise enough funds to transform the playroom. Having a decent playroom make the world of difference when you are spending long periods of time in hospital.
