Story

On 29th June 2025, our beloved Kasem Woodward, known simply as Kas to everyone who knew and loved him, sadly lost his fight with mental health at just 32 years of age. After a long, silent battle with depression.

Kas was a deeply humble, down-to-earth man who would go out of his way to help anyone, even complete strangers. But like so many others who suffer in silence, he carried a weight few could see. He was an introvert who often kept to himself, quietly wrestling with demons he felt he had to face alone.

But above all, Kas was a father. A brilliant, loving, hands-on dad to his three young children, aged 13, 10, and 5. He had his eldest daughter full-time, and the younger two for the majority of the time. His world revolved around them, and he made every moment count. Whether he was dancing in the garden, singing at the top of his lungs, or simply being by their side. Kas lit up when he was with his children.

In recent months, Sundays became somewhat a special time, cheering on his kids as they competed in majorette’s competitions. And of course, nothing made him happier than putting on his Manchester United top and watching the game with his kids around him, cheering together like their own little team.

Kas also found some temporary escape in getting new tattoos, maybe because, for a little while physical pain was easier to face than the emotional kind. Behind his quiet smile, he was carrying more than any one person should ever have to on their own.

In the final months of his life, Kas had just started to open up to a few people. Sadly, personal heartbreak and complicated circumstances made things even harder for him. He tried, but in the end, he still felt he had to carry too much alone, and sadly made one last decision by himself.

Why We're Raising Funds

In the wake of Kas's passing, many people have asked how they can help. This page is a way to support in whatever way you can.

The funds raised will go towards giving Kas the peaceful farewell he deserves, and anything beyond that will be placed into a savings pot for his children. So that one day, when they are grown they have something to help them build the future he would have wanted for them.

A Message for Other Men

If you're a man reading this and you're struggling: please speak up. Please reach out.

Every man feels low at times, some more than others. But you are not alone. As a man, we would much rather carry the weight of your tears than the weight of your coffin.

This world needs to do better for our men, for our Fathers, Son’s, Brothers & Friends. For the people like Kas who feel they can’t show their pain, help is not a weakness. Talking saves lives.

From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for reading, for donating, and for standing with us in honouring Kas. A man whose love for his children was endless, even in the depths of his own pain.

Let this also be a message to those grieving: The love Kas gave is still here, it lives in the children who will dance like they used to together, who will one day shout for United at kick-off, and who will laugh just like their dad did. Those stolen moments hurt deeply, but they will carry his spirit forward.

Kas won’t be forgotten, not for how he left, but for how deeply he loved while he was here.
