Thank you to all my friends who have been messaging me concerned for the safety of our children at Charlotte's Haven on Earth. I am relieved to say they are all safe and being supported in this very distressing time in Nepal.

I have been visiting Nepal since 2023 through my role in the Eifion Trust following in the steps of my parents; they founded it in memory of my sister to provide a home for children in need. Sadly, there are always children in great need in this beautiful, big hearted but extremely poor country. Life is not easy at the best of times and this is the very worst of times. It is almost overwhelming the challenge faced by the Nepalese people and the way ahead looks like a mountain too high to climb.

We at CHoE have been thinking how we can best play a role in this recovery, albeit in a tiny way. As an oustanding childcare centre in Kathmandu, we are offering places for children left orphaned by the flooding. We have delivered vital emergency supplies to a collection point and the Eifion Trust has donated Rotary Club Shelter Boxes in the UK. We need to do more.

This is just the beginning of the crisis for Nepal and its recovery, but immediate emergency support is needed now. We are able to work on the ground through our presence in Nepal providing hands on help. All our efforts are being driven by my dear friend Apara, the director of CHoE, who is also waiting for news of her sister Rachana, a volunteer doctor of a spiritual pilgrimage group last seen at the border with Tibet. . All our love and prayers go to her family and all those going through this unimaginable suffering; it is also Apara's and my driving force inspiring us to do what we can in our small way to support Nepal and its brave people.
