Story
To make my gap year worthwhile I decided to apply for a volunteering expedition with Raleigh. I recently discovered that my application has been successful, that I have been given the incredible opportunity to take part in a 10-week expedition. The expedition focuses on improving access to drinking water and raising awareness on sanitation. During my time I will be staying with and working alongside the locals, spending my time working on community-led projects, that contributing to the global goals.
In order to fund this project, I have a target of £2500 that I am hoping to raise through various fundraising methods, therefore any kind of donations will be greatly appreciated. The money that I raise will be going towards the project itself and not towards my own personal costs such as flights, vaccinations etc.. To help raise money and help prepare for the days of trekking, I will have to undergo in Nepal I have decided to climb the 3 peaks of Wales this November.
Nepal is among the poorest countries in the world and the second poorest country in Asia, with 23.8% of its people living below the poverty line. To add to this Nepal is the fourth most climate vulnerable country in the world. On April 25th 2015, Nepal experienced a devastating earthquake in which over 8,000 people lost their lives. More than 22,000 people were injured and over 800,000 houses were destroyed. Due to the country’s high levels of inequality and poverty, it was the poor and rural communities that suffered most.
Raleigh has been placing young people in Nepal since 2016 to help create change and better lives for the people in these rural communities. The link below highlights the positive impact Raleigh had last year.

I am unbelievably excited to take part in this experience and to help create an impact. Your donation would be greatly appreciated and I'd like to take this opportunity to thank you for your generosity.
