Crowdfunding is a new type of fundraising where you can raise funds for your own personal cause, even if you're not a registered charity.
The page owner is responsible for the distribution of funds raised.
Ten years ago I went to Uganda to work at an orphanage that was home to 80 children. The building was literally a shell and the immediate need at the time was that it needed plastering. So for three weeks I learnt how to mix plaster by hand, how to apply it, and between shifts we'd run activities with the kids (crafts, games and sports) or help out in the nursery.
In August 2018 I am returning to Uganda, but this time I am heading North to Soroti (dubbed 'grotty Soroti' by Lonely Planet) to help out in the community and local primary schools. I will be going out with a team organised by the charity Global Care (www.globalcare.org.uk) and for twelve days I will be without my husband, hamster and home comforts as I get stuck into the Ugandan way! I will be working to impact the lives of some of the world's neediest children, and although i'm sure it'll be an incredible experience, it is also likely to be tough, emotionally draining and physically exhausting!
I would really appreciate your support as I embark on this venture and if you would like to support me financially that would be absolutely amazing and much appreciated! If you're the praying type, I would also appreciate you dropping a message to the big man – Uganda is no luxury resort and I will be exposed to unsanitary conditions and fairly unsafe environments daily!
Thank you so much for taking the time to visit my page and I look forward to sharing stories and photos with you when I return.
