I've raised £200 to help Home- Start worthing and Adur train volunteers to support families with young children who are in need in our community

Home-start is the charity that I worked for in admin for 6 months. My friend is a volunteer for them. They train volunteers to go into homes to support families once a week and they run free groups for parents to take their pre school children to until they're back on their feet. It could be due to domestic violence, post-natal depression, financial, special needs, illness, isolation or many more reasons. Families are referred by health visitors/social workers, or self referred. Home-Start is also running new initiatives to help preschool children who are really not ready and a project called FRED (fathers reading everyday) with dads. I processed referrals and they were often heart breaking situations. They desperately need funds to recruit and train volunteers (it's a 10 week course) - families are turned away because there are no available volunteers. I also witnessed the success of how this scheme makes a huge difference to families who need help in our area. It's an amazing charity run by amazing, lovely people.☺
