Story

TARONGA EMERGENCY BUSHFIRE APPEAL

A report produced in November 2019 stated that the Koala in particular, an Australian icon was “functionally extinct” due to the bushfires burning across NSW and Queensland. It is estimated that up to 480 million animals may have perished in the blazes, including up to 8,000 Koalas. The Australian environment minister, said that the true extent of deaths can't be fully grasped until the fires have stopped burning and a proper assessment made, the situation is grim!

After watching the horrendous news coverage of the Australian wildfires and the devastating impact they are having on the native wildlife, the harrowing pictures showed these poor animals injured and dying their natural habitat was being destroyed in this possible extinction event.

Myself and my daughter Abigail decided we would support Taronga Conservation Society’s Emergency Appeal who are in need of vital funds to protect the vulnerable wildlife caught up in the Australian wildfires.

We are raising funds to help the Taronga conservation Society over the coming months and years to support the native wildlife recover from this catastrophic event through breeding and release programs and habitat restoration.

Fundraising will be a key part of making this happen!

We want to raise as much money as we can, so anything you can donate would be much appreciated.

The situation was dire for the iconic koala - now it's devastating. They need your help now more than ever before.

£25 - can fund vital research to improve long-term survival of koalas reintroduced back to the wild.
£40 - helps to fund emergency care for rescued koalas impacted by bush fires.
£70 - can help Taronga plan for the long-term future for koalas.
£100 - can help restore critical koala habitat.

Every pound counts please donate what you can.

Thank you
