Story

For a number of years Katerina Diakou, 17 years, has been poorly with Chronic Lyme Disease and this page is designed to raise awareness and generate the much needed funds which Katerina desperately requires for her treatment.

Chronic Lyme disease is a bacterial illness from the spread of Borrelia burgdorferi in tick insect bites. This debilitating condition at present has no cure and we desperately need your help for new treatment for our Katerina.

There is an unpublicised epidemic of people living with Lyme Disease in this country; and there is currently no treatment readily available on the National Health Service to help those who are suffering. The struggle is real. Therefore many patients have to go privately to seek answers.

Katerina suffers from fevers, swollen lymph nodes, chronic fatigue, chronic muscular pain and lethargy. Neurological effects include constant migraines, memory problems, difficulty concentrating and sensitivity to light. Furthermore in Katerina’s case the disease has also attacked her vital organs such as the heart and she has developed Carditis (inflammation of the heart) which has caused her to have Tachycardia (Heart rate exceeds normal resting rate) and sadly specialists have found a leak in her mitral valve all caused from this devastating disease.

The family have spent thousands and thousands of pounds traveling the world seeking answers from an abundance of specialists in experimenting with various treatments, countless supplements, medication and specific diets. The last few years have been full of sacrifices, sleepless nights, tears, heartache and desperation in the Diakou family.

On Saturday 9th September 2017 Pete Roti is attempting ‘Tough Mudder’ (10-12 miles, 20+ obstacles in the mud) at Cholmondeley Castle, Cheshire in the hope to raise awareness and needed funds for Katerina's treatment of this debilitating disease.

So please donate as much as you can!
