Story

My name is Daisy Dowling, and I am 15 years old and live with my dog, my brother and my parents in Kent.

I am raising money so that I can join a 4 week expedition with Camp International to Malawi in 2018. There, I will be working most days until 3.30pm at which time, I understand the local children will decend upon us volunteers to play games. I will also be doing a mountain trek - 3000 metres to the top of Mount Mulanje, as well as exploring the local area on safari.

Camp International work with communities to improve their environments in ways that the locals think are most important. Their work includes school improvements, wildlife conservation, clean water provision, constructing homes, reforestation and community infrastructure improvement as well as healthcare services and environmental recycling initiatives. They offer people (like me) the chance to go and work with them in different parts of the world.

I need to raise a large percentage of the cost of the trip myself through sponsorship and other methods, for example cake sales, sponsored runs, car washing, odd jobs and anything else I can think of.

I believe that this whole experience, including the 2 years fundraising, will increase my life-skills, broaden my horizons, give me a greater understanding of how other people live and the problems they experience every day. I think it will give me a good grounding for my future life whilst helping others.

I hope you can help me to reach my target and I hope I get the opportunity to improve the lives of the people in Malawi.

Please tell your friends and relatives!
