I've raised £200 to Improve the lives of those living with type 2 diabetes and obesity through supporting The Noakes Foundation.

I am taking part in my first full triathlon to raise money to help fight type 2 diabetes and childhood obesity.
There are so many 'health' foods and weird diets being pushed on us each and every day that say they'll help us lose weight, help us live a healthier life or improve our happiness. But for how long and with what consequences?
2 years ago my parents, in their 60s, made a firm decision to start living healthier lives. Despite what the current medical system would prescribe this meant no crazy diet plans, no 'health' products and, most importantly, no drugs. They adopted a low-carb high-fat diet along with increased exercise and haven't looked back since.
For the last 50 years we've been told fat is bad and fat makes you fat which means high carbohydrate diets are in and good health is out. The fact that the number of type 2 diabetes and obesity cases have risen hugely is kept quiet by the industries that rely on people thinking fat is bad.
The Noakes Foundation research into helping people that have these problems get rid of them and how we can all improve our lifestyles to avoid falling ill ourselves.
I hear from those around me and through articles and social media that people have health problems they just can't solve, issues with their weight and diabetes and that they have been prescribed drugs to help with their ailments. By running this triathlon (my first ever) I hope to raise funding to help support the work of The Noakes Foundation so that a diet that has been created by the sugar industry no longer exists and people can live healthier and happier lives without the need for drugs, hospital visits or 'health' foods.
