Story
Every year I do this, and every year I wish there wasn’t a need for it.
But there is.
There are parents right now worrying about September. Not because they don’t want to provide for their children, but because once they’ve paid the rent, gas, electric and food, there simply isn’t enough left for a new school uniform.
And I know that feeling.
When I was a young mum, I couldn’t afford my daughter’s first school uniform. I had to swallow my pride and ask my boss to lend me the money, which I then paid back out of my wages.
I’ve never forgotten how that felt.
Years later, when I was fortunate enough to be in a position to help other families, I made myself a promise that I would.
I started by buying 250 school uniforms myself.
Then you all got behind me.
One year we raised over £12,700 and helped hundreds of children go back to school in brand-new uniforms.
And now I’m asking you to help me do it again.
I’ve set up a JustGiving page, and every donation — whether it’s £2, £5, £10, £50 or £100 — helps us buy uniforms for children whose parents are struggling.
I’m not asking everybody to give a fortune. I’m asking lots of people to give a little.
Because imagine if everyone who watches this donated just £2.
Think how many children we could help.
A new uniform might seem like a small thing, but to a child walking through those school gates in September, feeling exactly the same as everybody else, it can mean everything.
No child should feel embarrassed because their parents are struggling financially.
So please donate whatever you can through the JustGiving link, and if you genuinely can’t donate, please share this video.
Let’s get as many kids as possible back to school in September feeling proud, confident and ready for a fresh start.
