For many years in manchester our homeless rates are rising. And due to the lack of shelters and emergency accomodation, people are staying on the streets. I have raised donations of tents and sleeping bags over the years and handed them out to people who need them. This is not a long term solution and we feel that by setting up a project where someone who is homeless can get their live back on track and start earning money by working for it and being a productive memember of society is the way forward.

We aim with profits from the cafe to pay wages to homeless memebers of the community, we aim to be able to pay a deposit on a bedsit or small flat for the employees to help move them of the streets. This in turn giving someone vulnerable a chance to start over.

A lady i speak to in manchester , who is homeless and in her 50's has been on the streets for several years now. She lost her home and has been to the town hall on numerous occasions to get into an homeless shelter. Four times she was offered a place, and four times people with children entered after her and naturally became a prioty. She sleeps in car parks with just a sleeping bag and has been beaten and abused while she has slept.

This is just one in along line of vulnerable people who need help to starts theirs lives over and get a second chance.
