My daughter has just turned 21, this should be a happy time but instead we are worried about her future and whether she even has a future. She has been failed by so many services, pumped full of medication and been sectioned under the mental health act. But what she needs is safe and consistent treatment to help her deal with traumas no child should suffer. We have found a trauma specialist service, which surprisingly is not offered through the NHS therefore we need to find £63,000 to get her the therapy she needs to learn to cope with the memories of what has happened to her or we fear she will take her own life

Sadly and shockingly my daughter was sexually abused between the ages of 8 and 11 by the teenage son of a family friend. For many years she kept this secret and tried to live a normal life, I think in some ways she even denied it to herself. When she was 15 she finally told and after a year long police investigation and court case the person who abused her was sentenced to 8 years.....unfortunately due to our legal system he will only serve 4 years in prison - he is due out next year.

In the 5 years since she told us she has been let down and further traumatised by the very services that should be in place to help and protect her. When she told the police the mental health services stopped her therapy - this was the time she needed it most. Under these services she has been given mind altering medications, put in hospitals that also hold sex offenders and treated as if she has herself done something wrong.

She has also made over 7 attempts to end her life because she doesn't want to carry on being haunted by the intense memories of what happened. 2 of these have been in the last 2 months, as the time the abuser is released from prison draws closer her memories and horrible thoughts grow stronger.

These is a simple solution to this, she needs therapy, that is obvious to everyone. Please help us get funding to save her life.
