    Story

Kathleen Khan tragically passed away the morning of Tuesday 3rd March 2020 in a house fire at her home. Mom to Stephen & Michael and Sister of Christine, Kathleen was loved beyond measure and the shock of her passing is effecting her family in a massive way.

We are raising money to help the family with the cost of her funeral. Anything that can help make this time even slightly easier so the family can grieve without as much worry would be incredible. Any donations received are appreciated more than words can say.

Kathleen Susan Khan (formerly Vickers, McIllwain, Goddard)

Born in Sheffield 18th June 1949,

She lived on Franklin Street in Sharrow, with her mother Mary, sister Christine in her Grandma Lucy’s home.

Her mother Mary was in the Women's Auxiliary Air Force(WAAF) and through this they lived in Singapore for a while. They had a pet monkey named Dinky to which they were devastated they had to leave behind,

They later all came back to England and lived in Brighton in the 60s, during this period she was diagnosed with bipolar manic depression as a teenager.

She returned to Sheffield in the late 60s, where she met her husband Farid Ullah Khan (known as Indian Fred), to which she had 3 sons, Christopher Raheem(1971), Stephen Ullah(1973) and Michael Edward(1989).

Sadly the bipolar caused her to have numerous breakdowns requiring her to be sectioned in mental health facilities throughout all her adult life.

She lived at 169 Gleadless Road, then 172 Gleadless Road in Heeley with her husband Farid and children Christoper and Stephen throughout these years, working in the Bingo Hall in the 70s as well as at the Fine Fare Supermarket, she also did stints around various pubs.

Unfortunately in 1980, she had a massive breakdown and her and Farid divorced,

She then moved to Gleadless Town End for a period before moving to 19 Grindlow Close in 1986, where she spent the rest of her life with her family.

    Tragedy unfortunately followed her with her family and friends;

Her son Christopher died on the 30th December 1999, missing out on the millenium, which tainted New Years and Christmas period each year for her and often caused intense periods for her mental health around this time.

In 2004 her former husband Farid, and father to her children, was misdiagnosed with lung cancer for 9 months, then was told he had mere days to live before passing on 6th April 2005. Tragedy continued in her losing her Auntie Doris (Dot) whom she was extremely close with in a short period of time.

Then her mother Mary, whom she was best friends with, passed away 14th February 2008. Later in 2008 her cousin Joanne died tragically. She also lost Ron Mongtomery whom her mom had married, who treated her like his own daughter and her sons called grandad.

She was close with her neighbours throughout the years, Kath & Les whom she shared the passion of pets with, having budgerigars.Later joined by Sharon & Billy who moved in the other side, becoming brilliant friends to the point of sharing a lovely brindle Staffordshire bull terrier called Bogart. She was also close with Marie and Craig to which her youngest son Michael was close friends with their son Thomas and daughter Cassie, even taking care of Michael for a period when she was hospitalised.

She’s lived on through her sons Stephen and Michael, sister Christine, cousins David and Bob.

She had a huge love for music, admiring Elvis Presley, Queen and Michael Jackson.

She loved animals with a very subtle bias to her own pets.

Her favourite drink was Baileys but she could also hack a pint with the best of them.

Her hobbies included art in drawing and sketching, also solving puzzles.

She enjoyed being a smoker as she loved her cigarettes.

She may have had a rocky life with a lot of ups and downs, but she will forever be remembered for being quirky, humorous, humble and very kind.

She will be above all remembered as a very compassionate woman who loved her family immensely, a wonderful mom, sister and cousin.
