As many of you know I have been volunteering at African Dawn Bird and Wildlife Sanctuary in South Africa for the past 2 years. They help rehabilitate and release injured and sick animals, as well as take part in conserving endangered species. I am going back for 6 months for a placement as a manager and am incredibly grateful to them for all they have done for me. The team are so hard working and dedicated to helping all the animals they have in their care, and run a successful volunteer programme at the same time. The sanctuary stays running primarily on donations and volunteers, so this money will go such a long way.

I want to show my appreciation for their hard work and for being so welcoming of me to the AD team. My time there has truly changed my life in ways that I would never have imagined. From becoming absolutely obsessed with cats, to being able to cook for 40 people, speaking slight afrikaans, becoming vegetarian, and meeting some amazing people who I couldn't imagine life without!
I am taking part in 'Veganuary' which is Vegan for January to raise money to give to the sanctuary prior to my 6 month trip there. There is so much I've learnt about the animal industry and I hope I can raise awareness about some issues that are currently occurring that many people are ignorant to.
