Activities include flying, drill, radio, space, STEM, leadership, qualifications, Duke of Edinburgh, shooting and so many more!
Air Cadets is a charity and each squadron is run solely on donations and the money raised during various fundraising events throughout the year

My RAFAC Story
I have been with 1109 (Thetford) Squadron for 13 years now; I joined as a Cadet when I was 13 and have never looked back! I have had so many amazing experiences and have made friends from all over the UK thanks to Air Cadets, both as a Cadet and as a Civilian Instructor!
During my 6.5 years as a Cadet, I made it through the ranks and became a Cadet Warrant Officer and had SO much fun along the way! I got to fly in Chinooks, a Sea King, Grob Tutors, and Viking Gliders. I was able to go on Wing and National Annual Camps to RAF Manston, RAF Odiham, RIAT, RAF Syerston, RAF Linton-On-Ouse. I completed a National 7 month long course to become a Qualified Aerospace Instructor, which enabled me to assist with the running of the National Aerospace Camp, and run flight simulators for the public at an air show at RAF Cosford and at RIAT. I was a awarded a Flying Scholarship and travelled to Tayside Aviation in Dundee and had 12 hours of flying lessons. I completed my Silver DofE; gained qualifications and BTECs; completed First Aid and Drill Instructor courses. I attended Wing and Regional Competitions for various activities, won numerous awards/medals, and participated in countless parades
And I have had just as much fun since staying on as a staff member!

I think Air Cadets is a fantastic organisation and I wouldnt be who I was or got to where I am if it wasnt for 1109!
