    Story

As Amy continues her return to full health she is determined to give back as much as she can to support the charities that helped her through the most difficult days. During her many Hospital stays Spread A Smile have made her laugh and enjoy being a kid. Super Shoes made her the most amazing pair of hand decorated Converse Trainers when she was learning to walk again. We as a family have been humbled by the amount of small charities out there that support families when their child has been diagnosed with a life threatening illness. We are going to be raising money to enable them to support other kids and families who sadly may have to go through tough times.

We discovered in March 2017 that Amys painful knee was in fact a Tumour in her Femur. Osteosarcoma is a rare cancer that generally affects young children and is often found in the femur exactly as Amys was. It is treated with Chemotherapy , Radiotherapy and Surgery to remove the bone and replace it with an Internal Prosthesis - Limb Sparing Surgery, after which Amy then had to basically learn to walk again.

Amy spent much of the next 12 months in and out of hospital and as well as the love and support of family and friends we would not have got through much of what happened during this time without the support of a number of small charities dedicating their time and resources to supporting sick children both in and out of hospital.

Amy has a particular soft spot for Spread A Smile who without fail visit children each and every week in various hospitals bringing along entertainers and therapy dogs to brighten the darkest of days. They do exactly what they say they do. They make very sad and vunerable children smile when they need it most. They made life better for her. They made her smile.

Amys SuperShoes made her walk tall and feel proud when she was struggling to get back to feeling like a normal teenager.

Amy intends doing a number of fundraising events over the next few months to enable her to give something back. Her ultimate aim is it climb the Eiffel Tower.
