Story

Hi ,

I have decided to start this crowd-funding page as i was overwhelmed with the support i have received following my first lipoedema liposuction surgery.

As many of you know i have been diagnosed with Lipoedema, a progressive chronic condition that is affecting my legs and arms. Lipoedema is an adipose (fat) tissue disorder that causes a build up of abnormal fat deposits throughout the legs and arms. This condition started when i hit puberty and is currently starting to cause a lot of joint and tissue pain in my legs and arms, they become bruised from the slightests of knock and are very painful to touch. In later life lipoedema can cause several health issues including dislocation of joints and i could eventually become immobile. Not only does Lipoedema affect your physical health it has a detrimental effect on your mental health as i am also suffering with anxiety.

Enough about the disease, let’s talk about why i am turning to crowdfunding. So at the start of the year i visited a plastic surgeon for the NHs who agreed i had lipoedema and that i needed surgery, however i had to apply for funding to the individual funding panel (CCG) and unfortunately they decided not to fund my surgery as i am not unique enough or deserving enough to have the surgery.

Therefore due to not gaining the funding from the NHS i am having to fund my own surgeries. I will need to have a further 2-3 surgeries each costing €3,600 which will take place in Bonn Germany.

I would be very grateful if you could help me to improve my future and help me fund my much need surgeries as i will be starting my nursing training in september.
