Story

On the 1st May 2021 I will be running 26.2 miles as part of the Abbots World Major marathon virtual run.

I will be running a route in Devon & will be running the marathon to raise awareness & as much money as possible to support mental health for riders, jockeys & the equestrian community. All money raised will be split equally 50/50 between Riders Minds & the IJF.

Over the past 12 months there have been too many tragedies within the Equestrian community and sports losing many incredible & talented people. It is a heartbreaking issue & many of these who have sadly taken their lives have been young male riders, grooms & jockeys. It’s time to not only speak more about mental health but also take action & raise awareness particualrly for males mental health & wellbeing.

Raising funds for the IJF & Riders Minds all of the money raised will be split 50/50 between the two organisations equally. The IJF run a programme with changing minds & the money raised will go directly to that venture to help those who need it struggling with their mental health. Riders Minds was set up by the late Matthew Wright & his wife Victoria & help all of those within the Equestrian community who are struggling.

We all know how hard a place the Equestrian community & sports can be but it is also an incredible community for coming together so I hope you will all get behind me & help to raise as much money for these incredible organisations as possible.

Whilst we’re all stuck in lockdown I thought it was a good idea to put my time towards something useful & we can all do more to help so please please help me to raise as much money as possible for this incredibly important cause. I have selected these 2 to raise money for carefully as I wanted to make sure all money raised goes directly to those who need it & I now it will be going directly there. This is a subject that has hugely touched me over the past 12 months as I am sure it has you too, it is a very sad issue & we need to help by doing whatever we can so people struggling can come forward & get the help they need.

Running 26.2 miles & training for the marathon is lonely but it’s nothing compared to what those who suffer or have lost their lives to mental health go through. It's time to get everyone together & raise as much awareness & funds as we can!

On the day if anyone would like to support me en-route then I would absolutely love that! Please be as generous as you can & let's get some serious money raised.
