For those that don't know, Archie who is now 6 months old had a very rocky start in life.
He was born 3 weeks early, everything seemed perfect our baby boy was healthy and happy. Whilst on post natal ward Archie had his first seizure. This was terrifying at the time we had no idea what it was. Over the next couple of hours Archie continued to have seizures to the point he was unresponsive and needed oxygen. These seizures continued he was having up to 24 a day, he was on maximum doses of medication that a 6 year old child would have and still no control of his seizures. He had that much blood taken for tests that he was closely monitored incase he needed a blood transfusion. He had lumbar punctures done 3 times in order to try and find answers. He was called the mystery child as everything was coming back normal. He had cannulas in every part of his little body that is was possible, he had long lines fitted,and tube fed! This was the worst time of my life I felt so helpless and I couldn't make my little baby all better. I didn't leave his side day and night. He needed me there to talk him through his seizures to reassure him I was here to pull him through. Archie went on to spend 8 weeks in neonatal. The nurses and doctors were amazing and the neo angels charity help us out massively. Archie is still on a lot of medication to keep his seizures at bay and has other obstacles in his life which other professionals come out to help with. His condition is still not fully diagnosed and he has a lot more tests yet to be done.
He has regular consultants appointments and sees a nuerolagist, physio, epilepsy nurse and has regular bloods and eeg to monitor.
Yet with all this going on in Archies life he is amazingly strong and a fighter and he is such a happy baby always smiling and laughing and take everything in his stride.
He is my baby a we love him so much. So we ate trying to raise as much as possible for the 2 charities neo angels and epilepsy action to give back
