Team Ryan – Supporting Our Family Through MND/ALS

A little while ago, our lives changed forever when Ryan was diagnosed with Motor Neurone Disease (MND/ALS), slow limb-onset.

There are no words that can truly prepare you or your family for a diagnosis like this. It has turned our world upside down, and every day brings new challenges as we learn to navigate life with this progressive illness. While we are determined to face each day with strength, hope, and love, we know this journey will not be an easy one.

The most important person in Ryan and Kellys world is their daughter, Connie.

She knows about Ryans diagnosis and has shown incredible courage, but she is still just a little girl who deserves the chance to enjoy her childhood without carrying the weight of an illness that no child should have to face. Our greatest wish is to protect her innocence for as long as possible, allowing her life to be filled with laughter, friendship, and happy memories rather than fear and uncertainty.

We kindly ask everyone to respect our family’s privacy by not discussing Ryans diagnosis with Connie or with her school friends. If, in time, Connie decides she wants to share our story, that will be her decision to make when she feels ready. Giving her that choice is incredibly important to us.

As MND progresses, there will be increasing challenges and significant changes to daily life. The support raised through this fundraiser will help ease some of the financial pressures they will face, allowing us to access equipment, home adaptations, mobility support, and create precious memories together as a family while we still can.

Above all else, time has become our most precious gift.

Every moment with Connie is something they treasure, and their greatest hope is that the memories we make together are filled with love, happiness, and as much normality as possible. I don’t want this illness to define her childhood—we want her to remember the smiles, the adventures, and the unconditional love we shared.
