I've raised £500 to help build a bereavement suite for parents of babies born with wings www.oscarswishfoundation.co.uk www.abigailsfootsteps.co.uk/

Every day in the UK, 15 babies die before, during or shortly after birth.
As an obstetrician I work with the bereavement team to help parents through this devastating journey. This year I again hope to raise money and awareness by completing several swimmy and running challenges. I will split your donations between two really amazing charities who, along with 2 amazing midwives are supporting our local families and are aiming to build a new bereavement suite at the Royal Sussex County.
THANK YOU
THE CHALLENGES
- February | Myself and several midwifes at PRH are running the Brighton Half Marathon! I have a dodgy ankle but am determined to hobble around this local run to raise money for our local women!
- March | The Swimmer | Katie P and I are running from North to South London (half marathon) and with some cold water swims on the way at Hampstead Ponds, the Serpentine, Tooting and Brockwell Lido - it's gonna be freezing!
- June | Scilly Isles SwimRun - a challenge to circumnavigate the coastline of St Mary's island in a mix of trail runs and sea swims!
- September | Dart 10K Swim - my third marathon swim along the River Dart. maybe without a wetsuit!
THE CHARITIES
- Oscars Wish (OWF)
Founded by one of our brave bereaved parents, the charity offers comfort and support to parents, family, friends and siblings who have experienced the devastating loss of a precious baby before, during or shortly after birth.
Last year the wonderful OWF funded a new bereavement room at Princess Royal Hospital which provides a safe space for women to deliver their angel babies. It also aims to provide support, counseling and care where possible.
- Abigails Footsteps founders also started their charity driven by a need to help ensure no-one suffered in the same way as they did. They aim to provide professionals with bereavement care training and support to ensure that bereaved parents receive highest standard of care, following the death of a much loved baby.
