We are launching a fundraiser to help raise money for permanent honour boards to be displayed in the Gillingham Social Club — the home and social hub of our small but mighty men’s, women’s, and junior teams.

Our club has a rich history, but currently there is nothing permanent in the clubhouse to recognise and celebrate the achievements, people, and moments that have shaped it over the years. This fundraiser has two important aims: to preserve and honour the club’s history for future generations, and to help promote pride and awareness of our club within the wider town.

All money raised will go directly towards the design and installation of these honour boards, creating a lasting tribute to everyone who has played a part in the club’s journey.

This weekend, Johnny, Scott, Dan (DK), Suzy, Maddie and myself from the hockey club will be taking on the Wessex Ridgeway Relay — a 110km challenge across some fairly hilly terrain, all in what is shaping up to be heatwave conditions.

Starting at 7:30am in Tollard Royal, the team will wind their way down to Uplyme, near Lyme Regis, with each runner taking on two legs of the relay along the way.

Current estimates have us finishing at around 4:30pm… although that prediction may have come from one overly ambitious teammate!
