Story
I'm raising £2,000 for a community project called The Big Fandango, a local charity in memory of Lewis Feeley.
My friend Lewis lost his battle with mental health in April 2025 and Rebecca at the big fandango has been a massive support to me so I would like to give something back this year and raise funds so the Big Fandango can keep doing amazing work for our community.
This year a group of us from The Sky Bar will be running the Manchester 10k on Sunday 31st May 2026. None of us are runners, but we are getting our running shoes on for a great cause!
This will be followed by other fundraising events this year.
About the charity:
The Big Fandango is a social enterprise company based in the centre of Bury. Rebecca Jackson set the organisation up in 2020 after losing her daughter to suicide and finding out how little support there was out there.
6 years on The Big Fandango run Suicide Prevention training for businesses, groups and schools, they hold an annual conference and every year host a vigil on World Suicide Prevention Day to support families left behind.
They run 2 monthly suicide bereavement peer support groups for adults and children who have lost a loved one.
Every week they run sewing workshops for adults and neuro divergent friendly sewing groups for adults and young people.
We are so grateful for the support Katie has given us through the years and her passion to raise awareness around suicide prevention.
Any donations from this amazing challenge Katie is embarking on will go towards our bereavement peer support group, particularly in providing events and activities that can bring some light and love to young people left behind ❤️
