This year I have decided to fundraise for both Get The Boys a Lift and 2 Wish Upon A Star in memory of Kieran. I will be competing in the Llanelli Half Marathon in October with my partner Stef and then on to Cardiff Half Marathon twice next year with my family.

The charities chosen are to provide support to individuals with their mental health through counselling (GTBAL) and to support those who have been bereaved with the sudden passing of loved ones 25 years and younger (2 Wish Upon A Star). Since the pandemic started there has been no doubt a significant increase in those who struggle with their mental health and sadly, suicide is now the second leading cause of death among 15-29 year olds.

Firstly, Get The Boys a Lift (GTBAL) as many of you know provide free counselling services to individuals who struggle with their mental health with no criteria to be met. This has been much needed in our community where typically a criteria has to be met unless you access support through charities. GTBAL have supported over 200 people by providing professional counselling since opening in 2019. This is funded through the sales of coffee and merchandise. I want to continue fundraising for GTBAL to ensure that those who may be struggling with their mental health get the support that they so desperately need.

2 Wish Upon A Star have been an important part of our lives since Kieran passed away in 2019. They aim to provide immediate support to those who have been suddenly bereaved. 2 Wish provided myself and my family with immediate support and counselling, without them we would have had no one to turn to. 2 Wish also provide bereaved families with memory boxes which are treasured forever with such meaningful items, including a handprint kit. 2 Wish are also funded through generous donations and the sales of merchandise.

I have chosen two charities very close to my heart and hope that I can give them something back for all the support that they have provided us but also the support that they provide to those within the community. Any donations will be so gratefully received. Thank you❤️
