Story
We have supported Katiyo Primary School since 2001. Last year we bought them the first set of Happy Reader books, a reading scheme designed for African English as a second language learners and speakers of Shona in particular (Shona is the 1st language of most children at Katiyo.)
The Grade One set of books has given the children a chance to read exciting and interesting stories that are relevant to them, to have books they can borrow to take home for the first time and to read for pleasure.
We are now trying to raise the £600+ needed to buy the grade two set and then another £600 or so to buy the grade three set.

8 years agoOur page is showing up a little garbled - we are fundraising to buy the Happy Reader books, not to fly out equipment to the school. That's an old cause and is somehow getting all mixed up with this one!
