Story

On 19th September 2020, I am running a marathon to raise money for the Brothers of Charity Services at Lisieux Hall!

The Brothers of Charity provides supported living for over 400 people across the North West who would not otherwise be able to live and work independently. Their dedicated staff provide a caring and enabling environment that ensures those with learning difficulties and other mental and physical health issues are able to achieve the quality of life and level of independence they deserve.

My brother has been at Lisieux Hall in Chorley for nearly ten years. He has low functioning autism, requiring very substantial support. The care provided to him by the supported living service has enabled him to live in accommodation, supported by carers who have also become his closest friends. He now has a level of independence that we never thought possible. It is so wonderful to see him shine.

During this incredibly difficult time, the staff at Lisieux Hall continued to go into work every day to a job where PPE and social distancing are impossible due to their responsibilities. They continued to provide the support needed. In the heights of lockdown, when my family and I were unable to visit, they sent messages and pictures nearly every day to help us feel closer and more connected to Stevie.

The incredible staff at Lisieux Hall who support my brother, as well as the many other residents there, didn't let COVID19 stop them making a difference.

Inspired by them, after over 14 months of training and three marathon postponements due to the virus, I am determined to run a marathon order to raise money for this fantastic charity. I am signed up for the New Forest Marathon on Saturday 19th September 2020, but in the event that this is cancelled I will be running the route on Strava.

Please see the website here to find out more about the charity:

Please note that the charity does not have a JustGiving link, so any money I raise will be subsequently transferred into their account.
