Story

For over 14 years Kings Stanley Primary School has been supporting Kavuka Primary School in Kenya with a sponsored walk, which has raised between £1500 and £2000 annually. At the time of our initial involvement, the school had only over crowded rudimentary facilities, basic structures, and little in the way of sanitation. Over the years they have relied on our sponsorship to improve the school and the lives of the children. Some of the many projects we have funded include: supplying mosquito nets and sanitisation tablets, building water tanks and drain pipes to collect rain water, new toilet blocks with arbor loos (composting toilets), repairing the concrete floors, electrical wiring of classrooms, new desks, ovens to provide cooked meals for the children, building additional classrooms, creating a vegetable garden to grow crops, and basic repairs and upkeep.

In addition, our Year 2 pupils are pen pals to the children in the school. Both sets of children have been excited to write to each other, and to find out about how the others live.

With the current world wide Coronavirus pandemic their situation is even worse; the school is closed, the families are receiving no government help, and their children are desperate for food. Although we are unable to do our usual sponsored walk, we still want to do all we can to help. Please give generously to these people who have so little compared to ourselves.

Thank you
