Story

All funds raised will go towards a large, ongoing and unexpected vets bill that my friends Kate and Paul are facing after their little dog Nelly was viciously attacked by a stranger’s dog while out for a walk.
Kate and Paul are both pensioners who took little Nelly on as a rescue several years ago, already having complex genetic health issues, Nelly is unfortunately exempt from insurance.
While out walking on Friday ( 22/11/24) Nelly was the victim of a savage and unprovoked attack by a large Mastiff type dog, she was rushed to the vets where she stayed for three days undergoing surgery to amputate her badly broken leg and repair several large, deep lacerations.
The vets were surprised that she survived the attack but she still has a long way to go on her road to recovery, since the amputation Nelly has had several setbacks with infection of her multible bite wounds resulting in almost daily visits to the vet, she may also be facing further surgery to address a large gaping wound that has resulted from the infection.
The fabulous response to this fundraiser has meant that Kate and Paul are now confident that they can pay the vet bill to date, but Nelly has further surgery to undergo as soon as she is deemed well enough so there will be ongoing costs to find.
They are so grateful that most of the financial burden has been lifted, allowing them to concentrate on Nelly and the best vet care as and when she needs it.
The attacking dog’s owners have sadly not come forward to offer any help or support towards Nelly’s vet bills which are currently over £4,600 and set to increase as her care continues.
