I started with wanting to donate one of those shoe box gifts that you pack full of little gifts to give to a child in another country for Christmas but the I wondered what help I could give closer to home. After ringing around and asking the mighty Facebook for help I stumbled across PREEN. Amongst other things they run a food bank that helps those who usually fall through the net and don't qualify for help with local councils. Food is donated to low income working families who receive income based benefits. I was one of these people when I was younger but help wasn't available then, but I know how much that help would have meant and would have been the difference between me eating or going hungry, which I often did.
Many of us are very fortunate compared to others and have probably started stocking up for the festivities this year!! We will no doubt be stuffing our faces and drinking wine and feeling rather festive!!!
If you could spare anything this Christmas, even £1...... then please please can I ask for your donations.
Every penny raised will be used to buy all the necessities to give hard working people a great Christmas with their loved ones.
