I'm raising £2000 to Pay Urgent Vet Costs Up To The End Of April

Story

Karen’s Cat Community is a small, home-based rescue and sanctuary in Mid Wales. We are a mother and daughter team caring for cats who often have nowhere else to go. Many of our cats are long-term residents due to medical needs, disabilities, or behavioural challenges.

As we move through March and into April, we are facing anticipated veterinary costs of close to £2,000, and we are reaching out for support.

These costs include:

Ongoing treatment for Elan, who has recently been unwell

Routine boosters and health checks

Multiple dental procedures, which are essential and often urgent

Vaccination and spaying for newer arrivals Bella and Coco

The cats this fundraiser will directly support are:

Lili-wen, Elan, Eve, Oscar, Bella and Coco

Lili Wen - Abandoned, heavily pregnant on an estate in Bangor.

Elan - Abandoned at the Elan Valley. Elan has no back paws and only half a tail. Possibly as a result of inter breeding.

Eve - Found wandering in poor condition in a local garden. No chip and no owner traced. She has CKD

CoCo - Sold on a selling site for £15.00, along with her sister, Bella (the black fluffy cat in the cover picture).

Why We Need Help

We work incredibly hard to be as self-sufficient as possible. Our small pop up shop helps fund the rescue, but this year has been particularly difficult.

We were forced to close in January due to extreme cold and lack of footfall. At the same time, rising costs have significantly impacted us, including oil heating, fuel, and general day-to-day expenses.

Although the shop has recently raised around £400, it is not currently enough to cover the level of veterinary care required. We are also very grateful to Catherine, who kindly paid £200 directly to our vet.

Running as a sanctuary is often more challenging than a typical rescue. Many of our cats remain in our care long-term, sometimes for life, meaning the costs are ongoing rather than short-term.

How You Can Help

Any donation, no matter how small, will go directly towards veterinary care for the cats in our care.

If you are unable to donate, sharing this page is just as valuable.

We are incredibly grateful for all support. It allows us to continue caring for cats who rely on us.

Thank you for taking the time to read and support our work.
